We're pleased to support Victor Arias Espana as he attends Australasian Land & Groundwater Association (ALGA)’s based Risk Assessment Training: Expert Training in Exposure and Toxicity Assessment for Contaminated Sites. As a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) & Site Contamination Specialist (SC), Victor is committed to ongoing professional development and staying at the forefront of industry knowledge.

Kleinfelder Australia is extremely proud to share that Sinead Goodfellow has been shortlisted as a 2026 ALGA Award finalist for Emerging Professional of the Year.

Sinead is an Environment Scientist who started in Kleinfelder’s Melbourne office in early 2023 following graduation from Monash University. Sinead is an exceptional member of the Kleinfelder team, working as both a field scientist and a national data manager. She used her field knowledge to better her data management skills and vice versa, allowing her to excel in both areas.

She is also an active industry member, contributing to both ACLCA and ALGA. Recently, she was selected as a finalist for the 2026 ACLCA Young Professional Seminar, where she presented a project case study to her industry peers and colleagues.

We are looking forward to celebrating Sinead and all the fantastic work in our industry at the ALGA Awards on 12 November.

We're pleased to share that Elaine Spence, Principal Environmental Scientist, and Vera Biermann, Senior Environmental Engineer, will be presenting at the upcoming Australian Contaminated Land Consultants Association (ACLCA SA) Workshop on 29 September in Adelaide.

Their presentation, "Refinery Talks – Case Study of a Former Oil Refinery," will provide ACLCA SA members insights into one of Australia's most significant contaminated land and remediation projects: the environmental assessment, demolition, and remediation of a former oil refinery and Adelaide's largest brownfield site.

The project has been announced as a finalist in the 2026 category of “Best Contaminated Site Assessment Project” and featured in Elaine’s and Vera’s presentations at the recent International Clean Up 2026 Conference. If you missed them at the conference, the workshop will give a project overview and cover the conceptual site model and surface water management measures implemented at the former refinery.

Kleinfelder Australia is pleased to have been selected as a 2026 ALGA Award finalist for Best Contaminated Site Assessment Project for our work on the Former Adelaide Refinery.

Completion of the Former Adelaide Refinery project unlocked Adelaide’s largest brownfield site and Australia’s first decommissioned oil refinery for future mixed-use development.

Kleinfelder Australia, in collaboration with Mobil and the Audit Team (AECOM), developed an innovative approach to streamline the commercial pathway from contamination assessment to site divestment and the subsequent planning and development process, which accelerated the redevelopment of this 230-hectare coastal infill site with considerable potential community benefits.

We are looking forward to celebrating at the ALGA Awards Ceremony on 12 Novemeber at the MCG in Melbourne and hope to see you there!

The event will bring together industry leaders to discuss environmental reform, approvals pathways, investment, and project delivery in .

With more than 60 years combined experience, Shannah has helped clients successfully navigate complex, multidisciplinary environmental projects from early feasibility and approvals through to construction and operations. With her expertise shaping effective approvals pathways and navigating environmental requirements to unlock project outcomes while managing risk and regulatory obligations.
