Last week, Luis Velasquez, Business Development Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, attended the “Use of the IALA Risk Management Tools” workshop in Panama City, completing the training alongside more than 30 AtoN and maritime professionals.
During the workshop, participants worked with tools such as SIRA, IWRAP, and PAWSA, which help maritime authorities identify hazards, evaluate traffic risks, and determine mitigation measures to improve safety in ports and waterways.
For anyone working in the Aids to Navigation community, this training is invaluable. It provides a clear framework for understanding how navigational risks are assessed and how decisions around AtoN systems and vessel traffic management are made.
The workshop also provided a great opportunity to connect with regional experts, exchange insights, and contribute to discussions on best practices for safe and efficient navigation.
Thank you to the Autoridad Marítima de Panamá and the IALA World-Wide Academy for bringing together such a knowledgeable group of professionals.
