Why Lap–Sash Seatbelts Matter in RAM 1500 Conversions
The RAM 1500 BigHorn was originally designed with lap–sash seatbelts. After Australian right-hand-drive conversion, it’s critical that occupant restraint systems are correctly reinstated and engineered.
A properly fitted lap–sash seatbelt:
Controls upper-body movement in a crash
Reduces head and chest injury risk
Distributes forces across the pelvis and torso
Works as part of a complete restraint system
As a general rule, a lap–sash belt must be fitted wherever practicable. A lap-only belt should only be used where it is not possible to install a compliant lap–sash system.
Seatbelts are not accessories — they are a primary safety system and must be designed, installed, and assessed correctly.
