Today, we had the privilege of hosting more than 30 diplomats from across the globe as part of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Victoria State Office Regional Outreach Program.

The annual program brings members of Melbourne's diplomatic community into regional Victoria to showcase local industries, innovation and community strengths, while highlighting potential business, trade and investment opportunities.

We were honoured that AQUATEC was selected as one of the organisations to be featured, recognising our reputation as an innovator in water, wastewater and environmental solutions, and our growing international footprint.

The delegation toured two of our Shepparton facilities, including our switchboard manufacturing operations and pump station fit-out facility, following an overview of Aquatec’s technologies, capabilities and services. Discussions covered a broad range of topics, including pressure sewer systems, odour control, emerging technologies and the challenges facing the global water sector.

It was encouraging to see such strong interest and engagement from representatives across so many countries, with plenty of thoughtful questions and discussion throughout the visit.

Regional Victoria continues to demonstrate that world-class innovation can thrive outside our capital cities. We are proud to be developing technologies in Shepparton that are helping utilities and communities across Australia and internationally.

Thank you to DFAT for the opportunity to showcase Aquatec, our team and the Goulburn Valley region.

Delivering critical wastewater infrastructure for one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

This video showcases the installation of a precast sewer pump station at Gurner Avenue, Leppington, NSW. It was delivered as part of the Austral Leppington Wastewater Stage 3 project for Sydney Water.

Designed to support Western Sydney’s Southwest Growth Area - forecast to grow from 2,300 to more than 38,000 dwellings by 2056 - this project represents another major investment in future-ready infrastructure.

Working alongside the West Region Delivery Team, we were engaged to deliver the full Design & Construct scope, including civil, mechanical and electrical works, delivering a pump station built to Sydney Water standards.

AQUATEC’s scope included:

3.6m diameter x 20.0m deep mould-formed heavy-duty reinforced concrete pumping chamber

Prefabricated switchboard room

Backup generator

Proud to help deliver infrastructure that will support Western Sydney communities for generations to come.

We’re thrilled to share that AQUATEC and Icon Water have been named finalists in the Australian Water Association Water Industry Safety Excellence Awards, with the winner to be announced at the Ozwater Gala Dinner on 27 May.

The recognition is for a project we’re incredibly proud of, rethinking activated carbon maintenance through a Safety by Design approach, using forklift-removable stainless-steel cassettes that eliminate many of the traditional risks associated with media changeout, including confined space entry, working at heights, suspended loads, manual handling, and exposure to chemical and biohazard hazards.

What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is that it reflects a truly collaborative effort between Icon Water, AQUATEC and SRG Global Utilities, shaped through iterative design, HAZOPs, CHAIR reviews, operator input, and a shared commitment to applying the highest level of the hierarchy of control, hazard elimination.

This project has always been about more than innovation; it has been about protecting the people who operate and maintain critical water infrastructure.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this concept to life, and thank you to the Australian Water Association for recognising safety leadership across our industry.

We’re honoured to be finalists and look forward to celebrating with peers at Ozwater.
