So your Nan just kicked the bucket and left you her old Camry, what should you do with it?

This.

We previously fitted up a TRD supercharger kit some time last year as well as a smaller pulley, CMS Performance fitted up a Haltech ECU to control things.

This time it came back for a manual conversion as well as fitting up a Quaife L*D.

The end result?

Heaps of fun and 174kw.

Pwoaaaah, VL straight out of the 1999 time capsule😍

Neons, monster tacho, XF throttle body, delta fin intercooler. Doesn’t get much better.

This beauty had been sitting for a loooong time. Our job was to get it up and running again ready for club reg.

New fuel tank, sender, pumps and a big service was all it needed.

So I bought another project a while back…..a few of them in one transaction actually.

Here’s the first one, and chances are, you probably haven’t seen one before!

So it’s a Toyota Corolla. Diesel. 4x4. Yep, you heard.

Sat on a strawberry farm for 15 years. Started up first pop with a new battery. Plenty of cleaning to do with this one. I’ve nearly finished cleaning it up so will post some progress photos shortly.

Time for another HDJ80 project update!

I finally got some paint on it!

Of course I had to go with sandy taupe. It’s the best colour on a cruiser in my opinion, and it also matches my Troopy💅💅

Now, I wouldn’t make a spray painters backside but I thought I’d have a go, and it turned out pretty bloody good.

The factory firewall paint was in good condition so I just roughed it up with a scotchbrite pad, primed it, scotchbrite again, and then I used some 2k aerosol cans to lay the colour down.

It was deflating to see the neat compass/altimeter wasn’t working though. It is coming back in to have that, and a few other minor things sorted soon!

Discovery sport in to have the EGR cooler filter replaced.
In typical Land Rover fashion they made access very difficult 🙄

The filter was blocked though, so once it was replaced and the codes cleared, the car was back on the road until something else fails.

Also, whilst doing this one, I dropped a bolt on the ground and it landed standing up! If that’s not a sign to buy another project car I don’t know what is!

HDJ80 Project Update time!

The braced diff housing was fitted back under the car with the newly refurbished suspension and steering arms. I’ve left the old suspension in it for now as I’m still undecided what I’m going to run in it.

The diff was overhauled with a HD rebuild kit including a new crown wheel and pinion, HD bearings + seals, and a solid spacer from Terrain Tamer 4WD

We took the opportunity to fit an E-locker at the same time. This isn’t going to be for climbing mountains up in the high country, but it’s going to be heavy and I want to give myself the best chance to get out, should I get stuck. Also I like buying all of the things.

New CV’s and axles, spindles, HD wheel bearings and drive flanges were up next. We used the ones off the later 80 series, the cv is a bit longer, and the drive flanges thicker, so a bit more contact there to keep all my horsepowers in check

Shiny new backing plates and calipers, with HP brake rotors and a set of Terrain Tamer fortified pads to finish it off!
These were all from the later 80 series too. The early ones are 286mm, these later ones are 311mm so a bit of a difference there..

I might paint something next, I wonder what colour I’ll do it 🤔🤔🤔
