Not all heroes wear capes. 🦸

Francis Greenway High School student Luke Mullard has been hailed a lifesaver after rescuing an elderly woman from a fire on his way home from school.

The 13-year-old and his brother arrived at their bus stop after school and saw smoke billowing from a home he walked past every day.

As soon as he knew that someone had called Triple Zero, Luke immediately headed towards the fire without a thought for his own safety. Meanwhile 92-year-old Roma Wilson was alone inside the house.

"I could smell smoke, and I could feel heat, and I thought there must be something burning.”

She left her house through a side door, causing her to become trapped in the yard where she couldn’t be seen from the street due to smoke, flames and the fence. "As I did, I could see the fire to the side of me and right up in the air, I tried to sing out, 'can anyone help me?' and this boy was there coming from the street up the lawn,” Ms Wilson said. “It was so wonderful to see someone.”

The young man guided Ms Wilson through the heat and flames to safety and called an ambulance, staying with her until it arrived. For the young man of the moment, in rescuing Ms Wilson, not only has he forged a lifelong bond, but he has also discovered his calling as first responder, most likely a firefighter or police officer.

"I was really proud of myself as well," he said. "It's a little bit weird as well, because it's that sort of thing, that you don't really come to school and you get called a hero."

Due to ongoing issues we've been forced to move the van. NO BREAKFAST OR COFFEE THIS MORNING SORRY

It hasn't gone far and we're working with our brilliant electricians from Sawyers Gully Electrical first thing in the morning to have it up and running again.

If you're keen to brave the weather and show up we're expecting to be trading from 5pm with both the all day breakfast menu and our late night menus from 5pm. It'll be hard to miss the new spot :)

We also expect it to be back to 5am starts from Thursday and we're working hard on pushing it to 5am - to late nights 7 days a week.
