Urgent job for a man on a bike trip from SA. The original thin tube parcel rack had been repaired before. It had started cracking on him recently.
I had the same diameter in solid rod. Bent it all up. Re welded the shelf bit back on added some gussets. Added about 1-2 kgs to this part.
We lost some fancy wavy lines but that isn't visible with the bags on and not a factor. We did however get the angles a bit better and its sitting nicer than previously.
The customer is aware the next stress point will now be those aluminium block mounts. This isn't taking enough weight to make that a problem.
I didn't take a good picture of the bike. The part is centred but doesn't look it in that photo.
