Our Mackay team enjoyed recently attending the Greater Whitsundays Regional Projects Forum.

It's always a great opportunity to hear about the projects shaping our region. From tourism and port developments to mining and infrastructure initiatives, there's certainly no shortage of activity across the Greater Whitsundays!

We love seeing what's on the horizon, catching up with industry peers, and learning about the exciting opportunities ahead.

Spring has sprung, which means our ecology teams are back out in the field! 🌱

Spring is a key time for ecological surveys, with warmer weather bringing increased activity across many plants and animals. Some species are easier to detect, while others may be flowering, breeding or moving through the landscape.

By surveying across different seasons, we can build a more complete picture of the biodiversity and habitats present at a site.

Here, our team is setting up pitfall trapping arrays and motion-activated cameras, helping us record wildlife that might otherwise be very good at avoiding us!

Spring surveys help us fill in the gaps and gain a clearer picture of the species and habitats present across a site.

What can a dry creek, a flooded channel, or a handful of freshwater fish tell us about a catchment? Quite a lot.

Last week, our aquatic ecology team was out in their waders assessing local creeks. Baseline surveys like these provide the information needed to support project planning and environmental decision-making. Every site tells a different story, which is why collecting on-ground data is such an important first step in understanding how a catchment functions and responds to change.

CQG Consulting team members alongside Tunuba rangers and others participated in a tree planting event on Nurim (Mt Archer) this week, in celebration of NAIDOC Week🌱

The event saw the planting of trees to contribute to the ongoing regeneration of this special place. More than that, the day was about strengthening relationships, sharing knowledge, and supporting future generations to care for Country.

Thank you to all those who made this event possible and contributed to this special day!
