A unique robotic welder brings advanced manufacturing to South Australia’s Upper Spencer Gulf. Perfect precision welds - every time!
Port Pirie-based, metal fabrication and welding workshop SJ Cheesman have been servicing the local community’s manufacturing, processing and mining needs for more than a century.
Today, we’re proud to announce we are a grant recipient of the South Australian government’s Economic Recovery Fund (ERF).
The grant will co-fund our Valk welding machine, which can weld components up to 12 metres in length, 2.5 metres in diameter and weighing up to 6 tonnes.
The robotic welder’s ability to handle complex projects enables SJ Cheesman to diversify into the Hydrogen, Defence and Government infrastructure sectors to complement its current Smelting and Mining work.
Additional benefits of the robotic welder’s arrival include, the creation of more local job opportunities and sustainability (a 16% reduction in the company’s carbon footprint, energy efficiency and water conservation).
We’re pleased to be able to partner with the State government’s Economic Recovery Fund (ERF), to grow secure, well-paid jobs, improve productivity, increase exports and support innovative, value adding technology in the Upper Spencer Gulf and across the state!
