The story of Eyre Trading started in 1960 when Eyre Trading Company was established by RJ Leech. In 1976 Gary and Glenis Kennedy, along with Peter Mueller bought out the upholstery part of the business, and then the remaining departments in 1977. From that time Eyre Trading has evolved and changed with the changing needs of its customers. It has over time included: upholstery; marine / outboard servicing; fire extinguisher repair and service and continues to evolve. Today we classify ourselves as Industrial Suppliers, catering to our customers’ diverse needs from the fishing , farming and mining industries to the home hobbyist. Along the way, Peter Mueller left the business and Gary and Glenis’ son; Peter Kennedy bought in. This added the unique skill set of hydraulics and introduced what is now the workshop. In 2004, Danny Bartlett (Gary and Glenis’ son in law) became manager of the store and he added his own flavour to the business, allowing Gary and Glenis to semi-retire. Gary’s retirement was brief as he died of cancer shortly after in 2005. Glenis remained a constant guiding force in the business until her full retirement in July 2015. If you’re in luck, you’ll still catch the ear and hearty laugh of Peter Kennedy as his own semi-retirement allows him the freedom to work on hand-picked challenges. In March 2015, Danny and Marie (Gary and Glenis’ daughter) purchased Eyre Trading, and proudly continue Gary and Glenis’ legacy of outstanding customer service in a family business.
