This bucket elevator upgrade is a great example of how the right solution can deliver immediate results.

While the existing bucket elevator was effectively lifting abrasive, cleaning performance was underwhelming and ongoing maintenance costs were continuing to add up. To address these challenges, Protoblast supplied an upgraded bucket elevator complete with a dedicated dust collector, designed to improve abrasive cleanliness and overall system efficiency.

The benefits were realised straight away. By removing dust and contamination from the abrasive stream, the customer has already seen improvements in efficiency and system performance. One of the first pieces of feedback? The system runs so smoothly they can barely hear it operating.

Currently taking shape in the Protoblast workshop, these hydraulically operated doors are destined for a large blast chamber measuring 10 metres wide, 15 metres long, and 9 metres high.

Designed for safe and efficient operation, the hydraulic door system provides easy access for large components while supporting the productivity demands of a high‑throughput blasting environment.

Engineered to meet local cyclone ratings, the blast chamber forms part of a fully integrated blast and paint facility, showcasing Protoblast's ability to deliver complete surface preparation and coating solutions tailored to customer requirements.

The Protoblast truck is rolling out with a late load bound for Broken Hill, where a Protoblast abrasive recovery system is set to become the latest addition to a customer's blast facility.

With the blast chamber ready for installation, this system will help maximise abrasive reuse, improve operational efficiency, and provide greater control over the blasting process.

The project is heading to a long‑established engineering company servicing the mining, water, rural, and wind energy sectors. Known for delivering quality workmanship and innovative solutions, they required an abrasive recovery system that would complement their facility and support their ongoing commitment to efficiency and performance.

Currently progressing through the Protoblast workshop is a large blast and paint facility featuring a partial abrasive recovery system, a 50,000 CFM dust collector, and a dedicated paint area with dividing walls that allow multiple colours and coating systems to be applied simultaneously.

Right now, the dust collector is undergoing surface preparation and coating, highlighting the same high standards we apply across all Protoblast projects. Every product that leaves our workshop is blasted and coated using systems carefully selected to suit customer requirements, environmental conditions, and equipment location.

For this project, a polyurethane three‑coat system was specified to provide long‑term protection and performance in service.
