Not every machine we work on is massive, but plenty of the smaller gear still packs a punch.

We’ve had a team of Virtus fitters up in the North West supporting a civil project and keeping the client’s fleet running strong.

From diggers, loaders, rollers and graders to light vehicles, we’re on site making sure the gear is maintained and ready to go when it’s needed.

A wise man once told us: “Diggers don’t dig if the drills aren’t drilling.”

The best way to keep them reliable is to engage the company and people who know how to maintain them.

Virtus was recently engaged by a valued client to support their project maintaining a large fleet of drills, and the team have already started sending through some great photos.

While most of us wound down over the weekend, our field service boily crew were hard at it at a customers site.

Engaged last week to support some critical works, the team also had the capability to perform GET changeouts onsite thanks to the set up on our trucks. Geared with Miller Big Blue welders, HIABs and tools for the job, there isn't a task we can't undertake, in any location.

Big buckets. Real wear. No downtime excuses.

Our highly capable boilermakers in John and Thomas are onsite this week rebuilding a CAT 6020 bucket — hardfacing, wear plate replacement and GET maintenance, all done out in the pit.

No workshop.
No long delays.
Just trucks mobilised, welders set up and the job getting done.

Preventative maintenance isn’t a “nice to have” — it’s the difference between planned work and expensive downtime.

Our fixed plant team has successfully completed an upgrade to our client’s ROM Bin Static Grizzly.

To enhance wear resistance and extend the life of the structure, Virtus supplied 500-grade hardness wear material and engaged qualified welders to deliver high-quality workmanship.

This ensures the Grizzly can withstand the demanding conditions of processing lithium hard rock.

Congratulations to the team for completing this project within a tight timeframe and thank you to our steel supplier for the rapid turnaround on materials.

Virtus is proud to be awarded a project to provide maintenance support to a large utilities company with its water infrastructure Contract.

Scheduled for completion in October 2026, the project will be delivered as part of a Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) Scheme.

This project supports environmental management by recharging the aquifer to help offset impacts on groundwater-dependent vegetation.

Virtus' scope will be to provide HD Mechanics and service vehicles to ensure their heavy mobile and light vehicle equipment are well maintained and reliable.

This week, we wrapped up a critical upgrade to the Oversize Crusher Feed Bin at a Lithium site in the Pilbara.

The project was designed to tackle persistent bridging and bin wall degradation that had been impacting throughput and reliability.

The solution?
✅ Removal of the damaged lower bin section
✅ Installation of a redesigned discharge chute with improved flow geometry
✅ Heavier-duty wear liners and wider hungry boards
✅ Structural modifications and commissioning — all executed within a tight shutdown window

This wasn’t just a repair — it was a strategic upgrade to improve material handling, reduce maintenance, and future-proof the operation.

Big thanks to our team who made it happen safely and efficiently and brining the plant back online, on time.

Our team recently completed the second ski slope upgrade on an EX5600 this year — this time, executed entirely in-field and on-machine.

A great example of what’s possible when urgency meets capability. With fatigued metal removed and fresh steel installed, heat treated, and welded by certified professionals, the result speaks for itself.

Ski slope cracks continually bringing your machine down for repairs?

Why don't you do what our client just did and eliminate the issue all together?

Virtus was fortunate enough to be a part of recent mainframe upgrade that removed the top chord plate from a EX5600 and installed all new plates.

Full pe*******on welding, heat treatment and blended to Part 5 - this is the last time we will see this asset.

Great job by all, and thanks to Jarrod and his team for showing us how it is done 💪
