IEEE UWA isnโ€™t just about professional development, we know how to have fun too!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Our committee recently jumped into the action at UWAYEโ€™s Golden Spanner 2025 Dodgeball Tournament and proudly took 3rd place out of 4 ๐Ÿ˜…. More importantly, it was a great time with everyone getting involved and having a laugh.

For some more relaxed bonding, we also headed out to a quiz night at The Other Side of Nowhere ๐Ÿป. It was a great way for the committee to unwind, get to know each other outside of meetings, and enjoy some friendly competition.

Building a strong, connected team is what makes the club so enjoyable and weโ€™re excited for more memories to come! ๐Ÿ˜

IEEE UWA had the great opportunity to visit Fiona Stanley Hospital for a behind the scenes look at how engineering supports healthcare operations.

We explored their autonomous delivery robots ๐Ÿค–, fully traceable machines that transport heavy loads like towels and meals throughout the hospital. These robots are equipped with sensors that constantly scan their surroundings, allowing them to safely navigate corridors. Their movements are tracked in real time, and green ceiling lights are built into the infrastructure to alert staff when a robot is approaching, a simple but effective safety feature.

We also got insight into the daily work of Electrical and Controls Engineers. From inspecting PLC boards and marshalling panels to understanding how backup generators keep critical systems running, it was a great look at the technical work that keeps a modern hospital functioning smoothly.

Big thanks to the team at Fiona Stanley hospital for hosting us and sharing their experiences! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ
