There's been a lot of chatter over the past month around early blackleg in canola. We are spotting a few trends in paddock management and its link to disease severity!

It's a timely reminder that fungicide decisions should be driven by observations in paddocks rather than a one size fits all approach.

A few things to consider:
➡ Canola growth stage and severity of blackleg
➡ Previous crop - rotation and proximity to neighbouring stubbles
➡ Variety selection - major gene resistance group and rating
➡ Seed and fertiliser dressings previously applied. What's the plan heading into spring?

Some good Autumn results starting to show for our clients:

Grass- Hogan ryegrass under excellent grazing management and a kinder summer than last few years bounced back. No oversowing required.

Canola- fighting through the earwigs & slugs 45Y28 bouncing out of the ground ready for first fert application.

Wheat- overwatch as pre emergent strategy. Good paddock management of stubble, direct drilling and early sowing- has tick of approval from farmers wanting to expand their MOAs
