Meet Our Mechanical Engineer — Max Welsh
 
With 4 years at Marline, Max has progressed from draftsperson to Mechanical Engineer, designing and documenting HVAC systems across a diverse range of projects including health, education, commercial and residential (including Class 2 developments).
 
He enjoys the fast-paced and evolving nature of building services engineering — particularly the early concept and system selection stages. The variety of projects and technical challenges keeps every day different, and that’s exactly what he thrives on.
 
Max is also known for his patience and mentoring approach, supporting undergraduates through their placements and contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture.

Following extensive fire damage in 2019, Awaba House has been carefully rebuilt through a conservation-led approach, preserving key elements of its inter-war character while introducing a new public use for the community.
 
Marline Building Services Engineers, in collaboration with BKA Architecture, delivered Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic engineering services, supporting the integration of modern building systems within a sensitive heritage restoration to ensure the building remains both functional and relevant for future use.
 
The project preserves key heritage features while introducing contemporary architectural elements that clearly differentiate the new from the original.

With 10 years at Marline, Mitch brings strong experience in mechanical design and drafting, delivering practical and compliant solutions across a diverse range of projects including health, aged care, mixed-use and Class 2 developments.
 
He enjoys working across all stages of a project, with a particular interest in BCA compliance, site visits and inspections. The variety of work and hands-on involvement keep every day engaging.
 
Mitch’s practical approach and attention to detail help ensure each project is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

The Muswellbrook Hospital Emergency Department (ED) redevelopment delivered a significant upgrade to healthcare services for the Muswellbrook region and surrounding communities within the Hunter New England Local Health District.
 
The project involved the relocation and expansion of the ED to the ground floor of the existing hospital, delivering enhanced clinical facilities including acute and paediatric beds, a secure mental health assessment room, isolation room, consult rooms, resuscitation and procedure areas, as well as supporting ambulance, staff and patient amenities.
 
Marline Building Services Engineers Hydraulic engineering services for the project, supporting the successful delivery of critical healthcare infrastructure within a complex live hospital environment.

With 6 years at Marline, Scott delivers mechanical HVAC projects from concept through to completion, working across universities, laboratories, and council and government facilities.
 
He enjoys the challenge of medium to large commercial projects, particularly central plant and chilled and hot water systems. From early concept design through to coordination with other services, Scott thrives on solving complex problems and developing practical solutions.
 
Scott values the strong team culture at Marline, where collaboration and camaraderie play a key role in achieving successful project outcomes.

Marline Building Services Engineers was proud to contribute to the NSW Cooler Classrooms Program, a $500 million initiative enhancing learning environments across schools throughout NSW.
 
As part of the program delivery team, Marline was involved in over 80 school inspections and reporting activities, supporting the assessment and coordination of essential electrical infrastructure upgrades across multiple sites. These works formed part of a broader state-wide initiative focused on delivering safer, more efficient and sustainable learning environments through improved air conditioning, ventilation and energy systems.
 
Delivered in collaboration with NSW Public Works, Schools Infrastructure NSW and the NSW Department of Education, the program has driven smarter electrical design outcomes and key system optimisations across the education network.
