Last week, our Senior Associate Thomas Chan represented Rickard Engineering at the “Luncheon Talk – Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) Facade Overseas” in Hong Kong, hosted by the Structural Engineers' Association of the Architectural Services Department, the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Thomas presented on Rickard Engineering’s longstanding involvement in Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC), covering the company’s experience in delivering GRC projects, façade engineering considerations, and GRC applications across major international projects.

The presentation was recognised with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Our Senior Associate, Thomas Chan, visited South Star Glass Limited in Hong Kong this week. We sincerely thank the South Star Glass team for the insightful discussions and the opportunity to exchange valuable industry perspectives.

The discussion covered the implications of AI on the engineering and construction sector, emerging construction market trends across NSW and WA, and the current challenges facing the Australian construction market within today’s economic climate, including the implications of the ongoing crises in the Middle East.

We appreciate the opportunity to strengthen international collaboration and continue sharing knowledge across the industry.

A look back at our contribution to the Penguin Cove at Mandai Wildlife Reserve with Pico Play.

Using submarine grade EPS foam as permanent formwork, we delivered complex and durable rockwork designed to withstand extreme deep water conditions while avoiding dead water zones.

Great catching up with the teams from South Star Glass Limited and DYM Australia at the Sydney Build Expo 2026, with our Senior Associate Thomas Chan attending on behalf of Rickard Engineering.

We had some good conversations around new developments in high-performance glass, including vacuum glass, and how these technologies are being brought to market and applied in real projects.

Proud to be presenting in the webinar hosted by Engineers Australia, Industry Partners Series: Advanced Brick Cladding Systems, in collaboration with Brickworks Building Products.

Our Director, Szymon Fujak, and Associate, Thomas Chan, will explore the next evolution in building with brick.

Rickard Engineering is proud to share that our Associate, Vera Tchikina, was part of the panel discussing “The Scope and Competency of Façade Engineers in the Context of the DBPA” at the ZAK World of Façades Australia conference in Melbourne.

Three key points formed the centre of the discussion: How to sensibly capture the wide range of scope of facade engineers, what training and competency are required to deliver the scope, and finally who is to determine the regulation of this? The DBP Act set a strong precedent for NSW and provided improvements in many areas while revealing challenges in others. Discussions like this are an important step in strengthening professional competency and supporting better outcomes for the built environment. Beyond compliance, it is encouraging a stronger culture of accountability, clearer design documentation, and closer collaboration between façade engineers, architects, builders and other consultants throughout the design and delivery process.
