It's been two years since Suncoast Asphalt built Queensland’s greenest road in Redland City Council.

This collaboration is a great example of how circular economy could be achieved with local government, industry and community working together to recycle waste and invest in recycled materials to build new, sustainable infrastructure.

This NAIDOC Week we join with our First Nations’ People in celebrating their history, culture and achievements.

As the traditional custodians of the land, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people consider ‘Country’ to be more than a place; it’s more like a person.

‘Heal Country’ calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.

Welcome to Operations Manager Daniel Mikus who joined Suncoast Asphalt last month.

Born in Queensland, his family relocated to Papua New Guinea for work, and he spent much of his childhood there, returning to Queensland to attend high school.

Daniel is a veteran in asphalt operations, joining Boral as a trainee in the technical laboratory after completing high school. He also furthered his studies and completed a Bachelor of Business and Commerce double degree while working.

He took a break from asphalt and tried his hand in the insurance and banking sectors, but he eventually found his way back to the asphalt scene.

Daniel says he’s enjoying getting to know the ins and outs of the business.

“It’s been a good start. After a couple of weeks up north, I spent a week in Melbourne getting to know the business there, checking out their operations and understanding how we work together to service the Queensland market. It’s been a full-on couple of weeks, but definitely enjoyable.”

Daniel is looking forward to working with the teams and helping the business grow.

“I look forward to hitting the ground running and getting to know everyone.”
