Oz Choppers recently completed a successful seven-week demonstration tour across New Zealand, showcasing our Bell 407GXP VH-8Y8.

The tour was conducted in collaboration with Bell Textron and Core Aviation, the newly appointed Bell Independent Distributor for new aircraft in New Zealand.

Spanning both the North and South Islands, the tour included visits to numerous operator bases, providing the opportunity to present the aircraft to a wide range of industry professionals. Notably, there are currently no Bell 407 aircraft operating in New Zealand, making this demonstration particularly significant.

Mark conducted a large number of demonstration flights, giving prospective operators firsthand experience of the aircraft’s performance — particularly its smooth ride and 140-knot cruise capability.

The aircraft was also featured on the Textron stand at the Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow, where it attracted strong interest from thousands of attendees.

The tour concluded at Core Aviation’s base with a final Bell 407 demonstration day, offering operators — including many H130 owners — a direct comparison of the aircraft’s capabilities.

🇦🇺 VH-OZS ➡️ CC-DNT 🇨🇱
What a finish to the ’25 year with another standout machines completed by Oz Choppers.
This is the third Bell 412 sold to Helicopteros Del Pacifico in Chile! 🚁
Full exterior and interior strip and repaint, 5 yearly service and many modifications carried out!
Once again, the team from HDP visited us here in Mudgee to conduct their registration for Chile.
You will notice its Chilean registration on some of the photos, pretty cool flying here in Australia under their rego.
We are close to shipping it off before years end, standby for some photos of that!

Very busy times here at Oz Choppers for our Christmas deadline for VH-OZS. Paint has all been complete after a very tedious few weeks/months. A real credit to the team where the end didn’t seem like it was in sight. Every individual piece for the exterior as been completely stripped of all paint, corrosion treated, primed, sealed, and for a three colour scheme to be done.
For example for each colour on each piece, has to be fitted, line masked, removed, completely taped off, painted, all to be unmasked again so it can be installed for the next colour line and repeat !!
Next up put some fuel in and ground runs 😬

Next step, paint shop! After all the sealant work is done, we now move on to painting the drivetrain area. A scuff of the existing sealant, taped up, prep and clean surface, another coat of primer, and the final Ice White top coat. We use Ice White in these areas to assist with cleaning and inspections!

Proseal time! A little behind the scenes of the intricacies involved with our refurbs. This is the Bell 412 Aero Asahi tailboom, stripped back to bare metal, acid washed and corrosion protected, primed and now is ready for some paint!

New Arrival – VH-RHJ
Another ex-Babcock machine has made its way to Oz Choppers!
VH-RHJ, a Bell 412EP fitted with -DF engines, has spent its entire working life on Horn Island serving with Australian Border Force. Last week we brought it down from Coffs Harbour to our Mudgee base — a solid addition to the hangar with some interesting history behind it.
While this one will sit tight for now, our focus remains on the Aero Asahi 412, which is keeping the team busy right through to the end of the year.
