Part 3 of 3 - Subaru L Series Cup Holder

The final instalment! This has been my most complete series yet. Showing the full process from start to finish has been challenging but I’m keen to keep brining you more!

The original part was 3D scanned with the Rockit, and then it was reverse engineered in SolidWorks using the add in.

Comment down below and I will DM you a link for a good deal on an EINSTAR Rockit ✌️

Go to QuickSurface website for a free 30 day trial.

Thanks for watching! See you on the next one.

Part 1 of 3 - Subaru L Series Cup Holder

Strap yourself in because we’re making more weird Subaru parts! This time we are taking part of an L Series centre console to make a custom cup holder.

In this part I am 3D scanning the original part with the Rockit 3D scanner from . Next I’ll be reverse engineering the scan data in using the add-in.

Check the link in my bio for a good deal on a Rockit!

Thanks for watching! ✌️

Part 2 of 3 - Subaru L Series Cup Holder

Bolt yourself in for another instalment! This time around I am showing you how I reverse engineer in using the add-in. QuickSurface really makes it effortless to import and reference scan data.

The original part was 3D scanned with the Rockit and aligned to my coordinate system in ExStar Hub. Good scan data makes work like this much easier and I’m loving the new scanner!

Next in part 3 I’ll be printing the part and test fitting it in the console. Cheers! ✌️

I make your weird parts ❀️

When making small parts like these, the most minor changes in the print settings and geometry literally make or break the part.

I went through several design iterations until I came up something that would do the job of the original part but actually be printable.

I love making weird little bits like these! Send me yours. Do it. Go on.
