It’s been a few months since we made the move to our new facility and the place is starting to feel like home. We went in with a wishlist and all the staff, but particularly our technical team, designed the space. After months of planning, renovating, and more than a little heavy lifting – we couldn’t be happier with how it’s come together.
To mark 6 months of being in our new home, I asked the guys what their favourite thing about our factory was.
Stuart: Temperature control.
Nik: Aircon
Darren: Airconditioning
David: Aircon
Freshly renovated, purpose designed and the best part – the Mitsubishi unit on the wall.
I can’t blame them. On the frosty mornings it’s one of my favourite things too and summer is right around the corner.
It’s not just about comfort – although that’s nice. It’s also about safety, productivity and quality.
One of the things the guys really wanted was a clean, stable, production area. Our product might be rugged, but that doesn’t mean the components should be weathered before they’re out the door.
Second Favourite
Trying to get a more interesting answer, I asked for their second favourite.
Stuart: The medical grade, 98 CRI LED’s.
These are mounted in the production area, over the benches where we do our fine work. We take them for granted every time we don’t squint or turn components around to catch the light just right.
Darren: The bubble wrap roller.
Since Darren built this there might be a little bias, but it is pretty spiffy.
Nik: Pallet racking
Myself: The bench space. Everything has a home, and that means there is so much working area
David: It’s a clean slate. Because we renovated we’re not working around other people’s mistakes. It's just works.
We all struggled for our second favourite thing and Dave’s answer summed up why.
Things don’t stand out because the ‘whole’ just works. Just like they designed it to.
Great job guys
