It's a shame this place is closing to make way for the airport expansion, even at a stupid hot 39C couldn't pass up one final blatt; sayonara DRM :(

Got a few (too) hot laps in between gopro melting and unmelting, then melting again.

Final DRM Track Session before they close for good.Would have been more fun if it wasn't 39C in a car that was already heatsoaked by the time it got there -_-

It's that time of year again..

Move over P3 Gauge, it's time to get the party started!

The old P3 map sensor has been relocated to immediately after the turbo so can switch between charge air temp and precooler boost.

Another oem upgrade 4bar map sensor has also been located on the compressor out pipe and will be taking over from the pre-throttlebody map sensor (after some tweaking to associated efficiency tables and some additional Laborde Motorsport code) to have the factory ECU monitor for boost leaks.

Now that the dust has settled and the black Yaris survived its second event, it is time to reflect on the BRB A45 performance at the Tarmac Events WA 2024 Perth City Sprint.

Recent months have seen almost all intercooler (except for turbo comp out, and throttlebody) silicone joiners replaced with HDi hard clamps, some of the larger joiners were experiencing significant fatigue after countless heat cycles whilst trying to contain +40psi.

Fuel system has been upgraded with a Spool HPFP with a Spool LPFP on the shelf for when the LPFP either runs out of flow or dies. In slightly bigger news a Continental FLEX fuel sensor has been added, with the signal fed to the factory channel and thanks to some Laborde Motorsport magic, fully integrated flex fuel management has been enabled using the factory systems with no additional signal converter/fooler boxes needed.

New turbo with same wheel specs, however now with cropped exh wheel tips for decreased high load backpressure, has been fitted.

After fueling, boost control has been the most significant and impactful change. The factory vacuum based system was struggling to keep up with what we were asking of it and the decision was made to change the system to a traditional pressure based setup. For this a Turbosmart dual port actuator was chosen and though a custom rod had to be made, the fitment was relatively painless. For initial system and function testing the actuator was fitted with 30psi of gate springs and this is how it ran the event. The car is vastly different in the low/mid range with real, instead of simulated, boost; real turbos feels are supreme. With a 4-port mac valve installed and waiting to be plumbed, it is now time to see how close to the moon we can get.. A Turbosmart eboost2 controller is being used for the initial exploration with the long term intent to hand this back over to the factory ecu.

Lastly, and likely the most significant aspect behind finally pedalling this full trim/weight glorified daily faster around this course than the stock BRB GRYaris whilst being down 10-15psi of boost, is the spicy alignment courtesy of Rey at RM Garage!
