Rescue mission.
This 100 plus year old Acme single cylinder Put-Put engine had corroded through the top of the cylinder and lost all compression and leaked water into the chamber.
Cutting windows in the outer allowed access to weld repair the cylinder and then replace the cast windows with a brazing process.
Bringing things back to life is a satisfying part of our service.

Down memory lane.
In 1975 Jim Small started an engineering jobbing shop in Mona Vale called Mall Engineering.
1975-1989 as a workshop.
Jim serviced many industries and designed and built many machines for industry, while employing quite a few people and training apprentices .
Gordon Gardiner of Gardiner Signs painted the sign to highlight the place of business, they sure don’t make them like they used to!
This sign now hangs in our smoko area at State and is a constant reminder of the bloke who started it all and continued to work with us up until 2020 at 85 years young.
Much respect.
Jim is now 90 and enjoying a well deserved retirement.

If spares are not available, most parts can still be repaired.
We continue to develop new techniques using tig-welding on different materials to rebuild corroded parts.
Well done Jeff for saving something that should have been scrapped.

Rudder bearings are a nice visual outcome and excellent performance products for the end user.
Can you make it based on the sample? is a common request. Sometimes a little forensics are involved in the outcome.
