Another week on the road and another reminder of why I love working across regional Australia. Last week I had the opportunity to deliver workshops as part of the NSW Farms of the Future program across Menindee, Pooncarie and Dareton in the Far West of NSW.

The Farms of the Future program is helping build awareness, understanding and confidence in agricultural technology and digital tools that can support more informed decision-making on farm. Through practical training and real-world examples, the program aims to help producers and industry stakeholders better understand the opportunities available through AgTech and how they can be applied in different agricultural systems.

The Far West has a way of reminding you just how diverse our agricultural industry is. Every region faces its own challenges and opportunities, and there is so much value in creating spaces for producers to come together, share experiences and learn from one another.

One of the highlights of the week was the diversity of people in the room. Across the three workshops, attendees included producers and growers, agricultural advisors and consultants, school students, and NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development research staff. Bringing together people with different perspectives and experiences created some fantastic discussions about the role technology can play in the future of agriculture.

While we explored a range of AgTech solutions and emerging technologies, some of the most valuable insights came from the conversations themselves. Hearing how technology is being adopted, the challenges being faced, and the opportunities people see for their businesses and communities is always one of the most rewarding parts of this work.

A huge thank you to the Farms of the Future team, Danielle and the team at Western NSW Landcare, and all those who attended and contributed throughout the week.

I was able to head home grateful for the people I’ve met, the stories shared and the opportunity to spend time in a truly remarkable part of NSW.

Podcast Feature on Big Fish Little Place is now live! 🎙️

I had the opportunity to join The Connection Table’s Big Fish Little Place podcast to share a little about my journey, the work I do through Business with Brooke, and why I’m so passionate about creating opportunities in regional Australia.

Growing up on a family farm in Molong has shaped so much of who I am today. Throughout the conversation, we explored the power of community, backing local leadership, supporting young people, and building meaningful careers and businesses in rural and regional areas.

One thing I’ve learned is that you don’t have to live in a capital city to make an impact. Some of the most innovative ideas, strongest communities and inspiring leaders can be found in small towns across Australia.

It was also a special opportunity to reflect on some of the people, organisations and networks that have played a significant role in my own journey. From the support and encouragement of regional leaders like Justine Campbell, CEO of RDA Orana, to the opportunities created through programs such as The Connection Table, these connections have helped shape both my career and my passion for supporting others across regional Australia.

I also spoke about the importance of backing regional businesses and brands, including Dusty Creek, who proudly sponsor the Business with Brooke podcast. Their support helps amplify conversations that celebrate the people, stories and opportunities that exist across rural and regional communities.

AgSkilled 3.0 provides NSW government-subsidised training for the agricultural sector, targeting plant-growing (Cotton, Grain, Rice, Production Horticulture & Viticulture) and livestock industries.
