J & M Shanks engineering are currently seeking a Boilermaker/Metal Fabricator to join our team, based out of our well-equipped workshop facility in Millicent. The position will provide exposure to a wide range of engineering projects from structural steel fabrication, sheet/plate fabrication, pressure piping, civil/forestry/agricultural equipment maintenance/manufacture to site installations.

What we are looking for:
• Trade Qualifications or Relevant experience
• Mig Welding experience, TIG/ARC welding experience not necessary but will be highly regarded
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to self-manage and work well within a small team
• A high level of attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Safety conscious

A recent project completed for Onetrak Mount Gambier. This project showcases the overall capacity of J & M Shanks Engineering from 3D scanning and modelling to large dimension machining and heavy fabrication to help put the finishing touches on this TigerCat 632H Skidder.

A production run recently completed across the CNC Milling machines, some clamp plates for a valued client in the forestry sector. The plates were reverse engineered and updated to client specifications, at a competitive price point to OEM components.

Some large format bearing housings recently completed by the Shanks' Engineering team. Based on some sample Cast Iron units, we were able to provide an updated design for higher strength and rigidity from steel with Stainless Steel overlay base to extend service life.

The Shanks' team recently completed some specialised components as replacements for unavailable OEM parts. The shafts, which have a parallel spline on one end and a tapered spline on the other are easily achieved in the Multi Axis CNC machines.
