RCPA began developing a low-carbon concrete pipe over a decade ago, and BX3, now used across our EKOPipe range, is the result.

Australian concrete pipe manufacturing has traditionally relied on efficient, thin-wall designs that demand high-strength concrete and precisely positioned reinforcement to meet load requirements. Reducing carbon couldn’t come at the expense of that strength, or of durability. A lower-carbon mix still had to meet the same 100-year service life expectation our pipes are built for.
