RCPA’s Adrian Cahill recently travelled to Adelaide to present to a group of engineers from WGA, covering best practices for the design and installation of concrete pipes.

Sessions like this are a great opportunity to connect with engineers in the field, work through real project challenges, and make sure the right knowledge is being applied on the ground. Concrete pipe done well starts with good design and proper installation, and that only happens when the whole industry is across current best practice.

Thanks to WGA for the invitation and to their team for the great engagement on the day. It’s always rewarding to share what we know and learn from the questions that come back.

This February, four members of the RCPA team travelled to the United States to attend the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA) Pipe School, one of the industry’s most respected training programs.

The school provided our team with deep technical knowledge covering pipe design, manufacturing standards, installation best practices, and quality assurance, all delivered by some of the best minds in the concrete pipe industry.

Collaboration continues to drive innovation across the infrastructure sector.

RCPA was proud to support a successful full-scale dry-cast concrete pipe trial incorporating recycled tyre rubber into the concrete mix, alongside Tyre Stewardship Australia and researchers from UNSW Engineering, including Ailar Hajimohammadi.

The initial results have been extremely positive, with the pipes meeting performance requirements and exceeding relevant standards.

This project represents another important step towards developing practical, sustainable solutions for the future of infrastructure.
