One of the most common questions we get is… “Why do scrap metal prices fluctuate so frequently?”

The answer is simple — scrap metal pricing is heavily influenced by global supply and demand.

A number of factors can impact market prices, including:

• Construction and infrastructure activity
• Manufacturing demand
• Export markets
• Global steel production
• Energy and transport costs
• Commodity market movement

Materials such as copper, aluminum and steel are traded globally, meaning local pricing is often connected to international market conditions.

That’s why pricing can shift from month to month — and sometimes even week to week.

We monitor market conditions closely to ensure our clients receive fair, competitive pricing aligned with current market trends.

It just shows... understanding the market is just as important as understanding the material.

Scrap metal is often seen as the waste leftover at the end of a project.

But it doesn’t have to be. Scrap metal is an incredibly valuable resource.

Have it dealt with by the right recycling partner and it can be an additional business revenue stream.

And for companies that are circularity-minded, it can also play a much bigger role.

When properly separated, collected and processed, these scrap metals can be reintroduced into manufacturing and supply chains — supporting local jobs, reducing unnecessary waste and creating new products from existing ones.

That’s what we do for our customers.

We help take scrap off your hands, create more value from the materials you already have, and support more sustainable outcomes for your business.

Because recycling isn’t just about what happens after material leaves site.

It’s about how we treat that material from the very beginning.

Sometimes the best way to understand a workplace is to hear directly from the people inside it.

In this interview, Sakthi, our Group HR Manager, shares a little about his journey with Manhari — from joining the business after moving to Australia, to growing with the team over the past two years.

What we appreciated most was how honestly he spoke about opportunity, learning and feeling supported along the way.

Like any growing business, we’re always learning too. But hearing stories like Sakthi’s is a good reminder of the kind of environment we want to keep building — one where people feel trusted, included and encouraged to grow.

Thank you, Sakthi, for sharing your experience and for everything you continue to bring to the team.

For many businesses, scrap metal collection seems straightforward: a bin is dropped off, filled, and picked up.

But how you manage that scrap can truly impact efficiency and safety on-site.

At Manhari Recycling, we believe in collaboration. We partner with our clients to create tailored solutions that fit seamlessly into daily operations.

Our approach includes:

• Smart bin placement
• Flexible collection schedules
• Dedicated support from an account manager
• Clear communication when it matters most
• Maximising value from your materials

A small shift can lead to significant improvements — because the right recycling partner enhances your operation instead of just removing waste.

Not all 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗽 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 is the same — and knowing the difference is the most important part as to how materials are sorted, processed and valued.

𝘼 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙩:

• 𝙁𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣
Common examples include steel and cast iron.

• 𝙉𝙤𝙣-𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣
Common examples include copper, aluminum, brass and stainless steel.

Each metal has different recycling pathways, processing requirements and market values.

When 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗽 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 is separated properly, it helps reduce contamination, improve recovery rates and maximise the value of materials coming from industrial, construction and demolition sites.

Our team works closely with our customers to help identify, sort and process materials correctly — making it easier for businesses to get more value from their recycling streams.

In metal recycling, no two days are ever the same. ♻️

One day might involve coordinating large-scale collections across multiple regional sites throughout VIC...

The next could be processing more complex materials, managing demolition recovery, or helping customers get more value for their scrap.

Behind it all is a team that we couldn't do without...

In a fast-moving environment where timing, safety and problem-solving matter every day, our people play one of the most important roles in keeping the cogs churning.

It’s an industry that demands experience, communication and a strong work ethic — and we’re proud of the team behind it.

Successful recycling operations don’t happen by accident. 👍

Ever wondered what happens to your scrap metal after we remove it up from your site?

For many businesses, once scrap metal is collected, it’s out of sight — and out of mind.

But what happens next is where the real value is created.

We process every load through a very structured system:

• Weighing & classification to ensure accuracy
• Sorting & separation by metal type and grade
• Processing & preparation for reuse in manufacturing
• Distribution back into the supply chain

The goal isn’t just removal — it’s resource recovery.

When handled correctly, scrap metal is transformed into raw material for infrastructure, construction and manufacturing — supporting the circular economy and reducing the need for virgin resources.

For our clients, it means confidence that their materials are being handled responsibly, transparently and efficiently.

Because recycling doesn’t end at collection — that’s where it begins.

05/05/2026

♻️ If your business isn’t sorting your waste materials properly, you’re missing out on an additional revenue stream.

Not all scrap metal is created equal — and how it’s sorted can significantly impact its value.

In industrial environments, it’s common to see mixed materials grouped together for convenience. But without proper separation, high-value metals like copper and aluminum can be downgraded — reducing your overall return.

At Manhari Recycling, we work closely with our clients to ensure materials are correctly sorted, handled and graded, so they get the most value from their scrap.

This includes:
• Identifying high-value materials within mixed loads
• Providing the right bin solutions for separation on-site
• Offering guidance on handling and storage
• Ensuring accurate grading and transparent pricing

It’s a simple shift — but one that can make a measurable difference to your bottom line.

Because scrap isn’t just waste — it’s an asset when managed properly.
