STEINERT's multi-sensor technology in action around the world 🌏 When Liontown Resources Limited started lithium production at its Kathleen Valley Project in Western Australia at the end of July, it became the first miner in the country to include a parallel full scale pilot plant to examine and test ore sorting technology from the start of operations on contaminated run-of-mine ore, using it to reject waste material and upgrade feed for future processing.

Australia’s regional manager WA, Dr Paul Beukes said the successful implementation of the technology at Kathleen Valley was the culmination of an intense period of testwork by STEINERT in the Australian lithium sector. “Success breeds success and the Liontown operation will showcase the abilities of the multi-sensor approach, and robust nature of the technology” 💡

have now completed the ore sorting variability trials for their Manna Lithium Project in Western Australia 🌏

GL's Project Director Dr Tony Chamberlain said: “This final round of trials confirms ore sorting is highly amenable to the Manna deposit. The technology has demonstrated impressive spodumene recoveries, while rejecting a large percentage of associated waste material across a range of samples throughout the deposit.

"Ore sorting will provide greater flexibility to our mining operations and will allow lower cut-off grades to be economically mined and processed at Manna. With now being incorporated into the main flowsheet, this will enable the project to potentially deliver a higher annual production quantity of concentrate. These positive outcomes will be incorporated into the Project DFS which is due for completion in H2 CY24.”
