HDJ80 project update!

Time to cut off the yucky bit.

Now this isn’t where the final cut will be, we just wanted to get rid of the damaged section, and do some repairs to the passenger rear door area on the body.

Once the damaged section was removed we pulled the rear back around 50mm to get the door to line up properly using some clamps. We also may or may not have used the forklift to do it😁

We’re back for 2026 and what better way to start the year than with another workshop project, just what we need!

Insert 1x HDJ80 cruiser

This will be a rather larger project.
Plans are to extend the chassis 600mm, cut the cab, and build a walkthrough camper on the back. We should end up with around 2400mm of camper space behind the rear seats.

Plans are to rebuild the factory 1HD with a nice new H152 bolted on the back. Front locker and reduction gears are also on the cards😎

Ai has done a pretty good job of putting together what we’re aiming for, it didn’t quite understand making the wheelbase longer though!

You can see from the photos the car is VERY nuggety, but I guess it has ‘good bones’, or something like that.

Stay tuned for this one, hopefully I remember to post progress on the way.

Just finished up a 4G63 with lots of good bits in it for an EVO 5😍😍😍

Will be back after Christmas for CMS Performance to push some buttons and tune the Haltec ECU

Elfin MS8 in for a steering rack replacement. These things use a rack out of an old rubber nose
MG!

They use all VY/VZ SS running gear (Yes, Its an LS!) and weigh about 900kg!

A pretty rare car with maybe only 15 odd(?) ever being made.
