IN SPRING THE GARDEN MAKES THE DECISIONS. OUR JOB IS TO BE ALIGNED.

Everything an inner south-east garden does in February is set in September and October — while the soil warms, the roots reach and the biology underneath wakes up. Work with that and summer largely takes care of itself. Miss it and no amount of watering in January buys it back.

What that looks like on the ground:

🌱 Pre-emergent before the soil warms, so summer weeds never germinate. Prevention, rather than a fight in December.

🌱 Coring and top dressing. On our clay the grass is rarely the problem; the compaction 150mm down is, and it's the only thing that changes what the soil can hold.

🌱 Feed before the growth flush, then mulch to 75mm while there's still moisture to keep. Feeding a surge already underway is chasing it.

🌱 Laying a new lawn? September or October, and prepare what goes underneath. Turf on unprepared clay is sitting on the same problem it replaced.

🌱 Run the irrigation. Most systems we inspect aren't broken — they're watering in the evening, daily instead of deeply, every zone on one setting.

We work as custodians: listening to the site before imposing on it, leaving the soil and plants healthier than we found it.
