It's one of the simplest ways to add a premium product to your range - think coat nuts, coffee beans, dried fruit, or puffed rice in layers of chocolate or sugar glaze, and suddenly you've got something that commands a higher price point with relatively little extra effort.

Fuel prices right now are brutal for anyone running refrigerated transport.

If you're still running a traditional refrigerated body, drawing engine power to keep things cold all day, you're paying twice. Once to drive, once to refrigerate.

Cold Car eutectic bodies are plugged into power overnight instead. No engine power needed during deliveries, which means significantly lower running costs when fuel costs are already through the roof.

Vertical or horizontal batch freezer - does it actually matter?

After years of working with gelato and ice cream producers, our answer is yes. Quite a lot, actually.

Vertical machines have more surface area for cooling, let you open the lid mid-cycle, give you full control over extraction temperature, and are generally simpler to clean. Horizontal machines were the industry standard for decades, but that doesn't mean they're the better choice.

If you're making gelato with inclusions on a horizontal batch freezer, your process probably looks something like this:
Wait for the batch to finish → unload into trays → sprinkle inclusions on top → mix into frozen product by hand.

On a vertical machine, you open the lid, pour them in, and they're evenly distributed on extraction. That's it!

For high-volume producers, the time saved every single day is significant. 🍦
