In the 1950s, Donald Daw set out to find new pigments.
Instead, he uncovered early photocopying technology—and a new direction.

That shift sparked more than one breakthrough.

Rokset was built to beautify the world through paint.
But its legacy goes far beyond the brush.
Did you know it helped spawn globally influential companies like Research Laboratories Australia (RLA)?

In the 1950s, Rokset’s Donald Daw set out to find pigments for paint brush handles.
Instead, he discovered a new frontier—early photocopying technology.

That discovery led to the founding of Research Laboratories Australia (RLA) in 1959, backed by Rokset.

Over the next five decades, RLA co-developed printing technologies with more than 30 global companies and generated over 600 patents.

RLA played a role in Canon’s early copier and printer development, contributing to the technologies behind its rise as a global leader in imaging and printing.
