Knowing when to replace consumables can have a direct impact on patient safety, equipment performance, and compliance but in a busy clinic environment, it’s easy for replacement schedules to get overlooked.

Different consumables also have very different replacement triggers. Some are strictly time-based, while others should be replaced based on contamination, moisture build-up, or monitor errors.

Here are a few common examples we regularly see from clinics:

• F/AIR refillable canisters → replace after 12–15 hours of use
• CA-MI suction filters → replace immediately if wet or contaminated
• Mistral Air blower filters → replace after 2,000 hours or when the indicator activates
• Edan water traps & CO₂ sample lines → replace when saturated or monitor errors occur

One simple habit that can make a big difference is logging usage hours for time-based consumables and ensuring all staff know the warning signs for condition-based replacements.

Small preventative checks help protect both your equipment and your patients.

We’re proud to see Cedar Mountain Vet Referral’s new hydrotherapy facility featured in the May edition of Vet Practice Magazine, including the underwater treadmill supplied and installed by the team at DLC.

Designed to support rehabilitation and recovery, hydrotherapy can play an important role in helping patients rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence post-surgery.

A huge congratulations to Dr Takanori Sugiyama and the Cedar Mountain team on creating a referral centre that brings advanced surgery and rehabilitation together under one roof.
