👻 SOME PLACES ARE BETTER LEFT ALONE

Over the years, we’ve been incredibly lucky to investigate some amazing venues.

Unfortunately, not all of those venues are still available to us.

One of our beautiful venues was eventually sold to a private buyer, so that one was simply out of our hands.

But there was another venue ( we won't disclose) that we chose to walk away from.

And that decision wasn’t made lightly.

The activity there was, quite honestly, on another level.

It was extremely active, incredibly intense and at times felt quite aggressive.

We don’t run around claiming everything is demonic.

In fact, that’s one of our biggest pet hates.

We aren’t saying this venue was evil, and we aren’t saying that everything that happened there had a paranormal explanation.

What we do know is that after a number of incidents, we started asking ourselves some pretty serious questions.

Was this really the right environment for members of the public?

And eventually, the answer was no.

That’s where having boundaries comes in.

We love what we do. We love investigating unusual places and trying to work out what is happening.

But we also have a responsibility to the people who come along with us.

There comes a point where you have to put the experience aside and ask whether continuing is actually the right thing to do.

For us, it wasn’t.

So we walked away.

Not because we decided the place was evil.

Not because we decided every experience had a paranormal explanation.

We simply decided that the activity was too intense and unpredictable for the general public, and we weren’t prepared to put people in that situation.

And honestly, we’re okay with that.

After all these years, we’ve learned that investigating the unknown also means knowing when to step back.

Sometimes you keep investigating.

Sometimes you find the logical explanation.

And sometimes…

you walk away.

Because having boundaries doesn’t make us less curious.

It means we take what we do and the people who investigate with us seriously.

Some places are better left alone.

👻 **PARANORMAL INVESTIGATING ISN’T GLAMOROUS.** 😂

People see the photos.

The dark rooms.
The equipment.
The old buildings.

What they don’t see is everything that happens in between.

It can be cold.

It can be ridiculously hot.

The floors are hard.

Your back hurts from sitting in the same position for hours.

You can spend an entire night sitting in the darkness, completely on edge, waiting to see if something happens.

Then there’s the driving.

Hours in the car to get to a location.

Setting up equipment.

Moving equipment.

Packing up equipment.

The Paranormal hangover !! YES its a thing! hahaha

And the very, very late nights. 😂

So why do we do it?

Because every now and then, something happens that you simply can’t explain.

And there is absolutely nothing quite like that feeling.

There’s the adrenaline.

The anticipation.

The moments where everyone suddenly looks at each other because *everyone heard it.*

There are the laughs and believe me, there have been plenty of those.

But more than anything, there are the friendships we’ve made along the way.

The incredible people we’ve met.

The places we’ve been lucky enough to investigate.

The stories we’ve collected.

And the adventures we never would have had if we’d simply stayed home on a Saturday night. ❤️

So today, we thought we'd take a little trip down memory lane and revisit some of our favourite people we've met along the way, some of the places we've been, and some of the moments we still laugh about.

Because paranormal investigating might not be glamorous.

But we wouldn’t swap the adventures, the friendships or the memories for anything. ❤️

And honestly… after all these years, we’re still not ready to stop. 👻🔦

COME TO BEECHWORTH ❤️

If you've never been to Beechworth, maybe it's time you changed that.

And if you have been before… you probably already know why people keep coming back.

Beechworth is one of those places where you don't really need to rush.

You can wander the old streets and admire the incredible gold-rush buildings.

You can stop for a coffee, browse the little shops, find something delicious to eat or sit down with a local wine or craft beer.

You can explore the history of the goldfields, walk through the historic precinct, visit the courthouse and the Old Beechworth Gaol, and follow the stories of the people who helped shape this remarkable town.

And there is plenty to discover beyond the buildings.

Spring is a beautiful time to visit.

The gardens are coming alive, the days are getting longer, and the surrounding bushland is waking up after winter.

Explore the historic park and old goldfields.

Take a drive out to Woolshed Falls.

Ride or walk the rail trail.

Explore the granite formations and historic mining sites.

Or simply find somewhere to sit, slow down and take it all in.

Because Beechworth isn't just about history.

It's about the feeling you get walking down those old streets.

It's the stories hiding behind the old shopfronts.

It's the food, the wine, the coffee and the people.

It's the surrounding bushland, the granite, the waterfalls and the history that seems to be everywhere you look.

We've been lucky enough to spend the last 9 years coming back to Old Beechworth Gaol, but we don't want people to come to Beechworth just for the paranormal.

Come for the history.

Come for the scenery.

Come for the food and wine.

Come for the stories.

Come for a weekend and discover a town that has far more to offer than you might expect.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE GAOL ❤️

When we think about Old Beechworth Gaol, it's easy to think about the history.

The granite walls.

The cells.

The prisoners who once lived behind those walls.

The stories.

The legends.

And, of course, the things that have happened there over the years.

But there is another part of the gaol's story that we think deserves just as much attention.

The people of Beechworth.

In 2016, local families and philanthropic organisations came together to save the Old Beechworth Gaol, raising millions of dollars to bring it back into community ownership and protect it for future generations.

And that spirit of community is still very much alive today.

There are people who give their time, businesses that support the town, volunteers who help preserve Beechworth's history, and locals who continue to care deeply about what happens to these incredible old buildings.

The gaol isn't just a tourist attraction.

It's part of Beechworth.

It's part of the town's history, its identity and its future.

We've been lucky enough to spend a lot of nights inside those walls over the past 9 years, and we've seen firsthand just how much this place means to people.

So rather than talking about ghosts, we wanted to say something about the people who help keep the gaol's story alive.

To the locals, volunteers, businesses, community groups and everyone who has put their time, energy, money or passion into protecting this place:

Places like Old Beechworth Gaol don't survive for generations by accident.

They survive because people care.

And we think the people who care for them deserve to be part of the story too.

THERE'S NO ONE WAY TO INVESTIGATE 👻

Everyone investigates differently.

And honestly, no one is an expert. There is always more to learn, more to experience and more questions than answers.

Some people love exploring every nook and cranny with equipment.

Some prefer to sit quietly and listen.

Some want to try to debunk everything they experience.

Others simply sit with an open mind and take it all in.

And that's the great thing about paranormal investigating — there isn't one right way to do it.

We do things a little differently at Paranormal Prospectors.

We don't chase noises.

We don't run from one room to another every time we hear something.

We let it come to us.

Sometimes that can be quite confronting. There are moments when it can genuinely feel like you're surrounded by activity.

Other times… it's completely quiet.

And when that happens, we'll move around, try another area and see what happens.

We often think of paranormal investigating a bit like fishing. 🎣

Sometimes you find the right watering hole and it's fish after fish.

Other times you can sit there for hours and catch absolutely nothing.

That doesn't mean you failed.

It just means the fish weren't biting.

Paranormal investigating is a lot like that.

It takes time.

It takes patience.

And most importantly, it takes an open mind.

It's easy to watch paranormal shows and think investigations are constant activity — voices, footsteps, shadows and unexplained things happening every five minutes.

Real investigations aren't necessarily like that.

Sometimes you experience something incredible.

Sometimes you experience something that has a perfectly logical explanation.

Sometimes you sit in the dark for an hour and absolutely nothing happens.

We don't know everything.

We're not experts.

We're simply people who have spent a lot of time investigating, learning, questioning and experiencing.

And after 9 years, we're still learning.

Everyone will have their own opinions, beliefs and experiences — and that's okay.

You don't have to agree with someone else's experience to respect it.

**Be respectful. Be kind. Be curious.**

At the end of the day, it costs nothing to be kind. ❤️

Keep an open mind. Ask questions. Share your experiences.

And don't be afraid to say, **“I don't know.”**

Because sometimes, not knowing is the most interesting part. 👻

**NED KELLY & OLD BEECHWORTH GAOL**

Ned Kelly's story is closely tied to Beechworth, and Old Beechworth Gaol was part of that history.

As a young man, Ned spent time imprisoned at the Gaol. Years later, following the outlawing of the Kelly Gang in 1879, 22 Kelly sympathisers were also imprisoned here for four months.

During this time, security at the Gaol was increased, including the installation of the large iron gates that still stand today.

Ned Kelly is one of the many fascinating characters whose story is woven into the history of Old Beechworth Gaol.

Just another little piece of the history behind the walls.

👻 **EQUIPMENT… OR NO EQUIPMENT?**

Over the years we've used all sorts of equipment at the Gaol — K2s, REM Pods, spirit boxes, digital recorders, thermal cameras, SLS cameras, the Estes Method and plenty more.

Some of the results have been really interesting, and sometimes they've given us something that makes us stop and think.

Yes, we use equipment on our tours, but we also really encourage people to put it down and just sit for a while.

Listen.
Feel the room.
Take in what's around you.

One thing we've learnt from our time at the Gaol is that if you're going to chase every sound you hear around the building, you're going to get pretty tired! 😂

Sometimes it's better to just sit quietly and see what happens.

We've had some of our most interesting experiences when we've taken away the equipment and simply relied on our own senses.

So yes, we love the gadgets… but sometimes **you are the best piece of equipment you've got.** 👻

👻 THE KITCHEN — A ROOM WE’RE HAPPY TO LEAVE ALONE 👻

Long before the kitchen at Old Beechworth Gaol became the commercial kitchen it is today, Danni and I would sometimes investigate in there.

And honestly… it was probably the most terrifying room in the Gaol.

There was just something about that room.

It never seemed to feel quite right.

Over the years, we experienced some pretty unsettling things in there.

We’ve been pushed.

We’ve captured EVPs telling us to “GET OUT.”

We’ve had doors suddenly fly open.

A full-bodied apparition has also been reported being seen in the kitchen.

And there were times when the feeling in that room would change so quickly that you could feel the panic rising before you even knew why.

It was the kind of place where you could walk in feeling completely fine… and within minutes, you’d be looking at each other thinking, “Something isn't right.”

The worst part was the feeling that sometimes came over you when you were standing in there.

That sudden sense of being watched.

The feeling that something was right behind you.

And that horrible instinct that tells you perhaps you really should leave.

We’ve investigated some pretty interesting places over the years, but the kitchen always had a different energy.

And Bel is quietly VERY happy that we don't investigate in there anymore! 😂
