How do modern CFA rigs generate massive pulling power without overcomplicating the mast system?

The A90 uses a clever combined line pull setup between the main winch and crowd winch—delivering over 20 tons of pulling capacity.

It’s smart engineering that maximizes force while keeping the system efficient.

Watch how it works in this clip.

When you pair CATERPILLAR’s legendary support with IMT’s decades of hard rock drilling expertise, you get something special. Add Terraquip’s local support, and you have a winning formula for Australian drillers. 🤝

We are incredibly proud to commission the first IMT AF135 CAT BASE in Australia! 🇦🇺

This is the first of five units on order, representing a major leap forward for tier-one drilling companies looking for premium efficiency, comfort, and build quality. IMT was the original pioneer to build a piling rig on a CAT base back in the 90s, and we are proud to bring that legacy of strength back to the forefront of the Australian market.

Thank you to our client for trusting us to help build the future. Let's get to work! 💪

Your oil flow might NOT be what you think it is.

As hydraulic pressure increases, oil delivery drops.

That’s why you must test oil flow at different pressure ranges — not just one.

And most importantly:
⚠️ Return line pressure should stay below 10–12 bar.

Too much back pressure can seriously hurt drilling performance and damage components.

Before installing a mast attachment, you MUST check excavator stability.

A good rule of thumb:
The mast attachment should usually be around 15–20% of the excavator’s weight.

But the REAL test is checking lifting capacity at the excavator’s weakest point:
✔️ Across the tracks
✔️ Boom fully extended
✔️ Around 1.5m from the ground

If the excavator can safely lift the mast + tools at that position… you’re generally good to go.

Can ANY excavator run a Marini mast attachment?

Technically yes… BUT only if:
✔️ The hydraulics are right
✔️ The electrical setup is correct
✔️ The excavator is stable enough

A simple rule:
The mast attachment should usually be around 10–25% of the excavator weight.

But the REAL test is checking the lifting capacity at the excavator’s weakest point.

Get this wrong and you can create serious stability and safety issues.
