A bolt is not just a bolt. That's the whole lesson, really — and it's one that tends to sink in around the time something fails that shouldn't have. ⚙

Grade, diameter, thread pitch, material, coating, application — every variable matters. A Grade 8.8 structural bolt and a stainless M10 button head are both "bolts" in the same way a ute and a sports car are both "vehicles." Putting the wrong one in the wrong place is fine, right up until it isn't.
