What happens when you take a compact cabin design and open it right up? 🏠
This custom backyard living space in Armidale is a perfect example of how thoughtful design changes can completely transform a space. Starting from our 30 m² Sprucescape, the cabin was enlarged to around 45 m² and redesigned as one continuous open-plan layout — no dividing wall between the living area and bedroom.
Extra windows were added to flood the interior with natural light, and combined with a raked ceiling and white Scandinavian-inspired timber walls, the space feels far larger than its footprint suggests.
"Once the white interiors, flooring, and kitchen started coming together, the whole space completely opened up. It feels light, calm, and much bigger than people expect when they first see the footprint." – Martin Chaseling, Green Door (Armidale)
Built as an additional living space for family and guests, this project shows just how flexible our cabin system can be — layouts, sizes, and window configurations all adapted to suit the way you want to live.
