Agtribe is a platform for farmers to advertise machinery for dry hire while it is sitting idle in the shed or paddock. Farmers looking to hire equipment will have the ability to search the area for a piece of equipment they may need to get the job done in a cost effective and efficient way. The idea of Agtribe evolved from the lack of machinery we had on our farm. Over the years I have had a need
for the use of hire equipment on the farm, whether it has been a second tractor at sowing, or a truck and trailer at harvest through to a sheep jetting race for fly prevention. We decided to hire equipment because we could not justify purchasing the equipment given that we only required it at certain times of the year. Therefore to overcome this problem we decided to hire equipment and then noticed there were some benefits of being able to do this for both owner and hirer, due to the fact that we were able to hire equipment in a cost effective way and that the owner received a financial gain by getting paid for machinery which would have otherwise been sitting idle in the shed or paddock. The concern I had when hiring equipment from other people was "what if something went wrong with the machinery whilst on hire", to take this concern out of the equation I contacted our insurance agency who provided a policy which was able to cover us in the event something went wrong with the hired equipment on our farm. Once I understood I was covered I felt comfortable hiring the equipment and so did the owner. I picture that Agtribe ag machinery hire will be beneficial for the following people:
- For those who are not able to justify buying something due to the fact they only need it for a short period of time throughout the year
- Farmers who own machinery which breaks down at a crucial time
- Buying equipment to then hire it out if you can not quite justify having the ag machinery
- To become more efficient in the way you run you farming operation by not having too much money tied up in machinery finance
