Another cracking weekend at the Mackay Area Fish Stocking Association Inc. (MAFSA)19th Annual World Sooty Championship at Eungella Dam.

It was a full card of 120 anglers in 68 boats and Wow…what an awesome job MAFSA does in the organization and running of this fantastic event. The effort that the dedicated volunteers put into not only this world-class event but also in stocking our local impoundments and waterways is nothing short of amazing.

INDT is so proud to be associated with Mackay Area Fish Stocking Association Inc. (MAFSA) and this event along with all the other numerous sponsors who make this tournament one that so many anglers would already have marked on next year’s calendar.

Well done to all the winners of the various categories and a special shout out to all the 34 juniors and the parents that supported them.

Thanks again Mackay Area Fish Stocking Association Inc. (MAFSA) for all your hard work, we hope you all get a well-deserved break.

Can't wait for the 20th anniversary year in 2025

Congratulations to Mackay Area Fish Stocking Association Inc. (MAFSA) on another very successful World Sooty Championship. Big thanks to the dedicated and hard-working volunteers who make this such a fantastic event. Without these amazing volunteers, we would not have the world-class impoundment fisheries that so many locals and visitors to our region enjoy.

Well done to Mick Slade for taking out the senior’s category and Darcy McFarlane for taking out the junior category. Both anglers fished amazingly well in conditions where many struggled (we happen to know one of those strugglers personally). It really was an amazing turnout of anglers and so great to see such a large contingent of junior anglers.

Also a big shoutout to the many other sponsors who contributed and helped to make the event such a great success. All in all, well done to everyone involved and we hope to see you again next year.
