At transit tyres we have taken steps to make it safer for your people on site. I have purchased a certified safety cage to do integrity testing on all tyres fitted and sent to the mining sector. We also have letters from our suppliers and tyre manufacture to pressure test tyres to 20% over there cold running pressure this insures the tyre will be safe on site before it leaves our workshop. We also keep a tyre register with photos of the serial number and pressure they have been tested at and email this once a month to the mine. We also can supply you with all your foam fill tyre needs for underground and forklift tyres exc

There’s a lot riding on those tyres.

Truck tyres have a pretty different job description to the ones on the family car: more weight, longer distances, long hours on the road and, around our part of Queensland, plenty of heat to contend with too.

It’s why pressures, wear patterns, rotations and regular tyre checks matter on a working truck. Small changes across that many tyres can tell you quite a bit about how the vehicle is running.

We see plenty of big rigs through the Transit yard in Paget, and we’re always happy to have a look.

What’s your call: true or false?

Generally, false. If you’re only replacing two tyres, the better pair should usually go on the rear. More grip at the back helps reduce the chance of losing rear-end traction, particularly in the wet.

A vibration that wasn’t there before. Steering pulling to one side. A tyre looking a little worse for wear. Or that mystery noise you’ve been turning the radio up to avoid.

Big agricultural gear needs the right equipment and experience behind it, and our mobile team is set up to handle the heavy stuff on site - when the machinery (like this CASE IH) is this size, bringing the tyre team to the job makes a whole lot more sense.

Our crew gets out across Mackay and the surrounding region, helping local operators keep their machinery ready for the work ahead.

Once you start changing a 4WD from its standard setup, getting the wheel alignment right can make a real difference to how it drives and how evenly those tyres wear.

This LandCruiser was on the alignment rack here at the workshop getting everything checked and dialled in.
