Customer Update - We’ve Moved
Sadly due to worsening family health issues at the end of last year and needing to move workshop we’ve not had the capacity to get back to a lot of inquiries. We’d like to share a massive thank you to our customers and our community for your support through this difficult time as well as the last 10 years of caravan repairs and Ron’s 40+ years of crash repairs.
We’ve now moved into our new workshop at 24 Gratwick Road Loxton and while we’re still getting back on our feet, setting up the new workshop and catching up on our work load, we’ll be open by appointment only and unable to do any onsite work.
Thanks again for your ongoing support and thanks to Dad for everything,
Cheers,
Daniel Gray

Why your insurance company wants to choose your repairer and how letting them choose can cost you $1000's in a single claim:

Most insurance policies include a right to choose your own repairer, but many insurers will try to bully or coerce you out of that right when trying to lodge your claim.

The reason for this is they are trying to force you to their cheaper partnered repairer, effectively robbing you of the insurance coverage that you're paying for.

An example of this has recently been highlighted in a determination by the Australian Financial Complaints Authority case 620915, where the insurer tried to use their partnered repairer to settle the customer's claim for $2430.31 but the customer's independent choice of repairer was able to get them the $5654.40 that their policy entitled them to.

This was a cash settlement claim so the customer was almost $3224.09 out of pocket by letting their insurer take away their choice of repairer.

If you are directed or pressured by your insurer feel free to ask your choice of independent repairer for help, we fight against your insurer to protect your rights not with your insurer to take them away.

Important message highlighting why you need to insist on your choice of independent repairer, who has your safety and quality of repairs as top priority, not your insurer's choice of the cheapest repairer possible who is willing to cut corners, devaluing your car and risking you and your family's safety

We recently finished repairing this Bushtracker off-road beast, including a complete side cladding replacement, structural aluminium frame repairs, internal wall and ceiling replacement, new awning, new AC, all new vents/fittings & external lights and an entry step upgrade to improve the van's departure angle.

This van is as tough as they get, after 12 years and countless kilometers it's looking like new again and is ready for many more trips around Australia.

What can you do if your insurer tries to talk you out of your right to choose your own repairer?

Most Insurance policies include a choice of repairer, it's one of the most important terms in your policy. However, insurers with their own repair networks can go to great lengths to make you think otherwise when you ring to lodge your claim.

Deceiving you out of your rights is a breach of Australian Consumer Law and/or the Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct. So how are they getting away with it??

The insurer's common response is usually that it is a "training issue" with an individual staff member.

Our best advice is to lodge your claim via email making it clear who your choice of repairer is as it's harder for your insurer to break the law in writing, or be ready to fight for your rights and persist on the phone.

Your independent repairer will always fight for your legal rights, and we need you to help stop this deceptive practice so that these multinational insurance giants stop taking work from independent repairers that have reputation's built on quality and customer service not built on misleading customers into thinking that they have no other choice.

If this has already happened to you, please fill out the Confidential Consumer Complaint form (on our page) and bring or send it to us so we can try to make regulatory change to bring an end to this.

Thank you for your time and ongoing support,
Ron and Daniel
