🚨🚨This is big🚨🚨
EMF Access are seeking EOI's from experienced IRATA Level 3 Supervisors interested in participating in our new mature aged apprenticeship initiative anticipated to start in 2027. Candidates will be heavily RPL'd with current mining maintenance experience and work towards an Australian Trade Qual in either: Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting) or Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/Welding).

Candidates shall:
Be Perth based (NoR)
Hold IRATA L3 status for minimum 3 years.
Have 5 years minimum mining maintenance experience in Western Australia.
Have genuine desire to work towards a trade qualification.

Note: This opportunity will not suit everyone. There will ultimately be learning blocks and ground based workshop time paid at the adult apprentice award rate. Offset by the standard L3 rate for onsite rope access works.

Applicants will be heavily vetted, references checked, supervisory and rope skills assessed and interviews conducted to ensure you're a good fit for the business (and we're a good fit for you).

It's estimated to be 2.5 - 3 year commitment. If you can see yourself walking away from a 3 year commitment with a trade qual then please email me directly using: "EOI - L3 MA Apprenticeship" as the title: [email protected]

As I venture back into ops I’ve had several recent let downs which has got me thinking. I think it’s worth noting that: yes there is a lot of work out there but at the same time the industry is not that big.

Basic human decency can not be overridden by the employer / employee relationship. Rope access management were once rope access techs. We’ve been through it. We know that when you commit to a job you’ll get 3 better offers in the next half hour. It just happens.

Here’s where work (and life) values come into play. If something better comes along, tell the new company that you’re already committed until ‘x’ time and then can join them. It’s a good look. If it’s an ‘offer you can’t refuse’ be open. Man up and communicate the situation.

Playing the ‘personal issue’ card for a mobe day pull-out is a weak play. Albeit, personal issues happen. Take a week or 2 to sort your life out. Then let us know when you’re ready to get back into it. Again, we’re ropies too, we’re here to help. No comms is not the right play.

So if anyone needs some guidance here, if the goal is to fill your banks with as much money as possible before going back home. Burning anyone that comes between you and your goal then I suggest you change your approach.

Do a good job, be a good person and I wish you many successes in your rope access career.
