🔧 Jammed Hopper – Fertiliser Plant Repair

Bill attended a local fertiliser plant today after fault codes stopped fertiliser being processed through the metered paddle system.

After breaking it down, Bill identified a build-up of material on the side of the hopper creating too much friction and preventing the paddle from turning.

Working with the plant team, the area was cleaned and cleared before Bill returned to refit the covers, clear the fault codes and thoroughly test the paddle at different speeds and loads.

✅ Tested and running smoothly
✅ No further damage found
✅ Plant returned to service

Another breakdown sorted and the plant back up and running! 💪🔧

We machined a brand-new gland for this hydraulic cylinder, replicating the original and getting the cylinder back to spec.

If we can’t buy the part, we’ll make it! 💪

🚛⛳ Another day, another on-site repair!

Today the HBB service truck headed out to the Leongatha Golf Club to replace a set of hydraulic hoses on one of the greenkeeping mowers.

All of the new hoses were manufactured on-site and fitted with Burst Guard protection, getting the mower back into action quickly with minimal downtime.

With a sunny weekend on the way, the greens will be in top condition and ready for everyone to enjoy a great round of golf! ☀️🏌️

Hilary was straight into it today, helping Marcus with stocktake on the very first day of the school holidays. Safe to say they made a pretty good team! 💪

Meanwhile... Gill has been busy rearranging the shop front, just to keep the boys on their toes when they walk in on Monday morning! 🤣

It's all part of the fun at HBB – a real family business where everyone pitches in.

Exciting News for Our Community!

After 15 years of serving the local community, Paul and Sheryl Spencer are pleased to be handing over the reins of Spencer's HBB to another local family, Marcus and Gill Busch.
While there will be a change of ownership, it's business as usual, and we're looking forward to continuing to provide the same friendly service and support that our customers have come to know and trust. Please note that all business numbers and account details changed from 1 June 2026.
Paul and Sheryl would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported the business over the years. From loyal customers to local families and businesses, your support has meant the world to us and has helped make Spencers HBB what it is today.
The good news is that Paul and Sheryl aren't going far! They'll still be around in a reduced role, helping Marcus and Gill through the transition and supporting the next chapter of the business.
Marcus and Gill are excited to take on this opportunity and look forward to getting to know even more members of the community while continuing the great service and values that Spencer's HBB has always stood for.
