Great weather for staying indoors and drinking - I’ve kicked off the weekend with a bloody delicious BentSpoke Brewing Co Half Cranked Session IPA.

Recipe of the Week: Dark Horse 🖤
Some beers just are what they are., this is one of the, our version of Carlton Black is one of them.
Dark, smooth, roasty, and easy to drink - it's been a favourite for a long time and for good reason. We've made the kit so you can home brew your own version of it.
We call it the Dark Horse. And it might just be our most straightforward kit going around.
Three ingredients. The yeast comes in the can. No hops. Complete brewing instructions included. If you've been thinking about getting into home brewing but weren't sure where to start - this is it. Grab the kit, follow the instructions, done.
What's in the box:
→ Morgans Premium Ironbark Dark Ale
→ 500g Dark Malt
→ 500g Dextrose
→ Complete Brewing Instructions
$34. And here's where it gets ridiculous.
That kit makes 56 stubbies — more than 2 full cases of dark ale. Work it out and you're paying 61 cents a stubbie. Compare that to bottle shop prices and you'll never look at a $22 six-pack the same way again.
Now if you want to get a bit fancy, you absolutely can. Throw some hops in and suddenly you've got something a bit more your own. Fuggles for something traditional, Cascade if you want a hint of citrus cutting through the dark. But honestly - brew it as is first. It doesn't need much.
Rich, roasty, familiar. A proper dark ale without the fuss.

Recipe of the Week: Black Heifer — Milk Stout 🖤

Winter's on its way and that means one thing — it's dark beer time.

This is one of our favourite extract kits recipes. Here's the thing about Milk Stouts that makes them a bit different — they use lactose. Lactose is interesting because your yeast simply cannot eat it. Regular sugars get consumed during fermentation and off they go.

Lactose just... stays. And that's a very good thing. It's what gives Milk Stouts their signature creamy texture, smooth body, and that subtle sweetness that balances out the roasty dark malt character making the beer dark and velvety and delicious😋

What's in the kit:
🖤 Mangrove Jack's Irish Stout base
🥛 500g Lactose
🌑 500g Dark Liquid Malt
🌿 15g Fuggles Hops
🍺 Safale S-04 Yeast

Fuggles hops keep things earthy and classic. S-04 yeast finishes clean. The Dark Liquid Malt deepens that colour and adds a touch of roasty richness.

We're going to keep this short because honestly, if you've tried this one before you're already clicking the link.
Pappy Van Winkle is the stuff of bourbon legend. Rare, expensive, and genuinely hard to get your hands on. The Master Distillers Pappy 23 Essence captures that same rich, complex character — lightly spicy, almost sweet, aged oak, toasted vanilla, a touch of warmth — and 50ml makes 2.25 litres of it.
