Redgum has been one of Australia's most reliable building timbers for well over a century. Railway sleepers, bridge pylons, wharves, homes, and farms right across the region have been built with it.

At Arbuthnot Sawmills, we've been working with this timber since 1889, and the quality speaks for itself.

The days are short now, and the cold has properly settled in along the river. Crisp mornings with a gentle fog along the water, followed by mild days.

When it comes to fencing on a farm or acreage, you want something that holds up through whatever the seasons throw at it.

Redgum posts don't rot, they don't twist like softwood, and they drive into the ground properly. It's why they've been the go-to around the Murray region for as long as anyone can remember.

We cut them here in Koondrook. Give us a call if you're planning some fencing work this season.

Before the roads came through, the Murray was the highway. Paddle steamers ran up and down the river loaded with Redgum, timber that built homes, wharves, and townships right across the region.

Arbuthnot Sawmills has been part of that story since 1889. A lot has changed since the paddle steamer days, but the timber and the connection to this river country hasn't.

This time of year is a great time to get some mulch down. A decent layer helps hold the moisture in, takes the edge off the winter frost, and makes a real difference come spring.

We stock Redgum mulch and woodchips here at Arbuthnot Sawmills. Whether it's for garden beds, paths, or around the base of your trees, give us a call and we'll help you work out what you need.
