Well it's that time of year again that the office and workshop are closed until Tuesday 9th as we make our annual run to Cooly Rocks. We are going to be in the zone on marine parade Saturday and Sunday from Coolangatta hotel up past the Surf Club, our little red XK will have some gear floating around in it if you want to catch up we'll be around it definitely between 2 and 3.30 daily, if you don't catch us earlier (I'm sure we'll be seeing the regulars again 🍻)

Still pumping out columns this week, a 63 US falcon LHD Ultimate Collapsible Column and steering box rebuild/conversion with complying mounts, a RHD Ultimate Collapsible Column setup with steering box conversion and complying mounts as well and another steering box conversion and mounting hardware for someone with a later column both to suit xm-p Falcons

It's funny how things come together, as we constantly look to improve and make life easier for customers we've been looking at a new EJ.EH Holden bolt on breakaway dash mount in the background, instead of our previous weld-on version.

Problem is you can have the concept but you need the local car to do the fit up to prove concept. Tim a local to us, recently contacted us as he'd looked at our existing products and asked if we could do some certain things to make something fit his application and we did the old "here's one I prepared earlier" trick.

Well a quick visit to Tim's yesterday resulted in a test fit up, and yep it worked a treat, careful measurement and planning has payed off, just a little clearance mod to be done to the final design. 2 more samples going out this week to some customers to also prove fit-up is correct, then we'll be all go, just another complying innovation to make life easier for our customers fitting our Ultimate Collapsible Columns to EJ and EH Holdens.

Well we're off and running again for 2026, a couple of Ultimate Collapsible Columns of to the legends over at Cut Weld Drive for some F trucks in the building, check'em out. And some Ultimate Collapsible Columns for EH holden and XM falcons also out the door with complying mounting hardware. Firing up making some shiny bits for our Automatic quadrants, more Billet dash mounts and some booster mounts

We've been pretty quiet on socials this year but cannot miss the chance to Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of the OCD family.

The team at OCD Metalworx would like to thank all our valued customers, associated businesses and friends for their support again over the last 12 months, it's been crazy year, and as with any small business we seem to always to be tested from every direction, but once again, we have survived.
It's been another year of manufacturing most parts locally, taking our local content in our columns to well above 90%, we are "Australian Made" certifed for all our products we offer.

Besides our Standard Floor shift style & Hot Rod styled columns , our automatic collapsible columns now come with illuminated billet quadrants and suit 2 speed to 10 speed applications, thats why we named them "Ultimate Collapsible Columns" , We are the only company to offer this as standard and to manufacture new columns in all these configerations.

It's been hectic but thanks for your support of a small Australian Manufacturer that only wants to keep the dream alive in Australia.
We will be closed from 11am on 19th December for a Christmas/New Year break and then be having a maintenance shutdown until 12th January (if all goes to plan,🤣🤣)

Another good part ruined by poor or should I say lazy assembly procedures in the past. Rattleguns or Impact drivers are not designed for assembly only disassembly of threaded fasteners. Torque wrenches, pulse tools and shutoff clutch tools should only be used for assembly. This pitman arm nut was clearly tightened with a Impact tool, stretching and deformation of thread is evident in the nut from over torquing , then when the nut was removed it destroyed the thread on the sector shaft. Torque your fasteners with proper tools, don't use rattle guns , they have no control of Torque applied , the adjustable settings don't control the torque accuratelyfor fastening, theres a reason we called them nut busters in fastening solutions industry. We'll fix this up like new again but it's not necessary when the jobs done right the first time, and yes we do torque every fastener we work with.

Well we are pointed in the south direction for a quick 900km round trip to the NSW All Ford Day, leave early Saturday back Sunday night. Hope to see you on the road over the weekend or at Eastern Creek with the Early Falcon Car Club of New South Wales , there might even be a new product or 2 under the bonnet keep an eye out, get out and drive ya s**t and get some smiles for miles

Well it's all happening here again with another pallet of tube arriving from making our life so much easier, they help us keep all jobs repeatable and built to the highest standards, these guys do awesome tube laser processing at their facility in Emu Plains NSW, #1 in our books. All we have to do is prep them, assemble according to design requirements, prime to have them ready for final assembly into columns.

Whilst at the same time we have our VM10 machining centre punching out some shiny column parts for when the tubes are completed, it's a shame these don't get seen. All while we keep the 3D printer running and assemble columns and parts in the background. Doing what we can for Australian manufacturing and keeping it Australian Made .

Out and about at Cooly Rocks, tonnes of cool stuff to lay your eyes on and great catching up friends and customers, Fridays now done with the obligatory lunchtime pizza from , tomorrow we'll be in zone 2 somewhere between the cooly hotel and calypso plaza on marine parade along the beach, come and say hi at the red XK falcon sometime around 2 PM if you haven't found us earlier.
