Thanks to Kim Ellis, Director of the Australian Antarctic Division, for sending me photos of the two Igloo Satellite Cabins at the site of the proposed year-round runway.

These cabins were used as emergency shelter by AAD personnel during biodiversity surveys of the proposed aerodrome site in the Vestfold Hills, around 6 km from Davis research station.

These photos of Camp Byers, a seasonal Spanish base camp on Byers Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetlands, Antarctica. The base was established in 2001 and Igloo No. 133, a unit with 4 sets of extension panels, was set up that year. Igloo No. 137, the same size, was set up in 2002. One of the Igloos is used as a laboratory and the other for domestic purposes. Thanks to H. Moreno, who kindly sent them to Icewall One.

If you think the basic Igloo is too small for your purposes, check out the space available in an extended Igloo, up to 6 metres long. Some of these Igloos are in Antarctica - thanks for the photos, AAD expeditioners - and others are being prepared in the workshops.
