Not something we would normally post… but this is something we are so, so proud of!
Meet Gemma, our 10-year-old niece.
She loves running and has been training to run the Mad Max Marathon in Broken Hill this Sunday! At just 10 years old, she’s taking on an incredible 10km run.
Gemma lives on a sheep and cattle station in the middle of nowhere! (For those of you who don’t know, Katrinna is originally from there – on the other side of Broken Hill, between Broken Hill and Tibooburra, NSW!)
She’s doing it all to raise much-needed funds for two very special causes that are close to her heart:
• Broken Hill School of the Air SRC
• A beautiful little girl on a neighbouring station who is fighting A-T (ataxia-telangiectasia), a rare and complex genetic condition.
Both causes were chosen by Gemma herself. Her heart is so big!
Gemma has been running and training her little heart out. From late afternoon runs on the station with her mum following behind on the four-wheeler with the lights, to heading out on runs by herself to get the training done (even being chased by the odd cheeky cow)! You also may have spotted her over the last school holidays running laps around Jamestown to complete her training.
If anyone is in a position to donate towards her cause, even $10 would make her day. She didn’t think she’d even crack $500, so she’s absolutely ecstatic with the kindness and generosity everyone has shown so far.

Good luck for Sunday, Gemma!
We are so, so proud of you.
Lots of love,
Aunty GiGi, Uncle Jake, Brady, Cash, Donny, Rip, and all your Worm’s Mitre 10 cheer squad 💙
