In our industry, we’re often taught to tough it out and get on with the job—but a simple conversation can make a real difference.

This week was a reminder to check in with your mates, workmates, employees and family. Ask the question, listen without judgement and make time for the answer.

You don’t need to be an expert. Sometimes simply saying, “Are you OK?” is enough to help someone feel supported.

Ask. Listen. Encourage action. Check in.

The AK Metal Fabrications workshop is busy with another structural steel package taking shape.

From material preparation and fit-up through to welding and final fabrication, our team is getting this one ready for the next stage.

There’s something satisfying about seeing a pile of steel turn into a finished structure — especially when it’s all fabricated right here in our Innisfail workshop. 👌

Once completed, this platform will be heading to Mackay, where it will play an important role in training workers to safely perform work at heights in a realistic, controlled environment.

🔧 Custom Fabrication Complete – Innisfail Town Pool 🏊‍♂️

Another quality custom fabrication project completed by the team at AK Metal Fabrications.

This project involved the fabrication and installation of a new aluminium access stair complete with custom handrails for the Innisfail Town Pool, providing safe and durable access for pool users.

The boys even had to jump in and get their feet wet to get the job finished! 🌊😄

Meet the crew behind AK Metal Fabrications! 👷‍♂️⚙️

Every great job starts with a great team, and we're lucky to have a crew that works hard, has a laugh, and gets the job done.

🔹 Allan – The Boss… and the resident pushover and far to casual to be a Boss (according to the real Boss).
Anyone that knows Big Al, knows he's always happy to help, never on time to anything, and will avoid answering the phone as much as possible.

All jokes aside, Allan genuinely loves his trade, and while his long-term dream is to one day fabricate his very own boat, for now, he's busy building everyone elses dream 😆

🔹 Kevin – Our Qualified Boilermaker. A skilled tradesman who takes pride in producing quality work. Kev is especially excited to see our new CNC plasma arrive—and will no doubt be the first one lining up to put it through its paces. He has embraced the new technology and engineering systems available to the trade and can see the opportunities they bring to diversify and expand our capabilities.

🔹 Silas – Our Apprentice. Fresh off completing his first-year TAFE exams 👏 Silas is developing into a great young tradesman, and we have to give him credit for his neat welds… although his workshop cleaning skills could still use a little more development! 😉

🔹 Mick – Our Trade Assistant. If there’s a job that needs doing, Mick’s your man. Whether it’s in the workshop, onsite or something completely unexpected, he’ll give just about anything a crack. He’s always eager to learn more about the art of boilermaking—and we may just make a tradesman out of him yet!

This is our main team, however as maintenace season picks up we have our usual boys come back seasonally slogging it out in the the FNQ humiditiy and rain.

We have an extremely diverse team which have great experience from alloy fabrication through to structural steel and pipe work. Something we as a business are proud to be able to provide.

Here's to building bigger and better Projects together.
