Last weekend saw the end of the 2026 sailing season for the RCS powered B14. This time we were at Bowen for the annual Sail Bowen regatta. Conditions on the weekend were tricky to say the least and the Race Committee did a fabulous job of getting the races away without too much delay. Saturday saw a very unusual rain squall come through in the middle of the day, killing the breeze and causing the temperature to plummet! Even so, we still had 4 races for the day. Sunday was more 'normal' however the breeze was still all over the place but 3 races were sailed in varying conditions.
We sailed well on Saturday and held an early lead but we struggled on Sunday in the lighter breeze against the tasars. We finished on equal points with Aaron and Kalen Linton for 1st but we secured the top spot on countback.
It finishes an amazing year for Renee and myself on the water. In the B14 we have won all 5 regattas we attended this year, as well as winning our division at Hamilton Island Race Week on our Northshore 370.
Bring on next season and the B14 National Championships at Townsville Sailing Club!

For the past year or so the Townsville Sailing Club has had a picture of us from a previous Sprints regatta and added a love heart to the spinnaker. I thought it looked so good that i decided i would actually put one on! Thanks for the inspiration!

Its Magnetic Island Race Week time and the island put on some fabulous weather today! Here is some great shots of Mike Steel's Elan E5 'Boudica' with her brand new RCS S2 made from Contender SK90/SK75 nylon.
Good luck to all competitors at Maggie this week, especially those powered by RCS! I'm very jealous and i wish i could be there sailing but I'll be keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Breeze was up this weekend on Cleveland Bay! Saturday saw us racing out of the Townsville Yacht Club - Sailing (TYC - Sailing) on our Northshore 370. We only did the first of the 2 scheduled races due to commitments in the afternoon but it was a good hit out. We were 2nd across the line and 1st on handicap which was really pleasing. Today we were racing on our B14 out of Townsville Sailing Club. With the breeze in the low 20's it was always going to be a hard slog and unfortunately the attrition rate was quite high amongst the fleet. By far the hardest working people today though were the volunteers in the rescue boats and the start boat. Whilst it was hard work sailing, the rescue boats were kept busy with capsized boats everywhere you looked. Hats off to the hard working volunteers that allow us to do what we enjoy doing in far from ideal conditions.
Anyway, if the 2 races that were scheduled, only one was completed due to the conditions. We managed to keep the rig pointing to the sky to record a win. After the race, and because we didn't fly the kite in the race, we headed back to the top of the course and set the kite for an awesome ride to finish the day! Thanks to graham on the start/ finish boat for the video.
