When it’s close to shearing day and you enter the paddock with ideas of what you can do with their beautiful Alpaca Fleeces…🦙🦙

Don’t forget to chat to your shearer if you are thinking of getting your Alpaca fleece processed. 🧶

They will help you sort your fleece between the saddle/blanket (most important part for processing) and legs/neck (seconds/thirds) on the day of shearing.

We just had the pleasure in being able to turn Chai’s Alpaca Fleece into lovely Alpaca Yarn that his family can now enjoy 😍

Unfortunately Chai has since passed but his family are delighted to have his fleece processed so they can remember a special and beautiful animal with a memento (scarf for each family member). 🦙🧣

Handy Tip….unless you want to have “Lamington” looking Alpacas we don’t recommend using wood chips for their bedding. 🦙😲

Whilst wood chips are great to help soak up the urine & excess water in their undercover areas they can ruin their fleece.

Alpacas will find it…will roll in it…and you will be left disappointed when you have to spend HOURS to remove the wood chips from their fleece or WORSE their fleece will be unable to be processed.

Of course these 2 cuties found the small patch of wood chips left behind and their owner is "not impressed" with their choices!

Leroy & Kelso coming over to check out the little "mini me” versions of themselves. 🦙🦙

We were pretty excited to be able to process the boys fleeces so they could be then made into these cute little alpaca toys….they are even stuffed with some of their left over fleece!

We are so happy that we received the 'sniff' of approval from them. 🥰
